PANEER KALIYA


INGREDIENTS-

500 grams- Cottage cheese
1 1/2 -cups blanched and ground almonds
1/4 cup-  split Bengal gram
1/2 cup-ghee
4 -green cardamoms
4-cloves
10- Black peppercorns
1 -inch stick- Cinnamon
2 -sliced onions
1 inch piece-  chopped ginger
2 tablespoon- coriander seeds
1/2 teaspoon- Turmeric powder
1 cup- Milk
2 tablespoons- Fresh coriander leaves
Salt according to taste

METHOD-

First, cut the paneer in cubes and make a fine paste of almonds.  Make fine power of chana dal. Take a big pan and add ghee.  Crush cloves, cinnamon, peppercorns with a pestle in a mortar and put some ghee on it. Add sliced onions, cinnamon, and fry for few minutes. Now add coriander seeds, ginger to the onions, and fry it for few minutes more. Remove the pan from heat and cool it slightly.  Grind this mixture in a fine paste by adding little water.  In the ghee pan add up ground masala paste and cook it till the ghee is separated from paste.  Put some water.  Take masala paste and little water and add it to masala. Put turmeric powder and cook in simmer flame.  Take powder chana dal, add little milk in it, and put this to the gravy.  Add salt according to taste and cook smooth gravy.  Lastly add paneer cubes and little milt and cook it for few minutes,  do it in  simmer flame.  Garnish the dish with coriander leaves.
